EMBRACE PEACE FOR THE GOOD OF ALL

The All Africa Baptist Fellowship is fully committed to defending matters that concern Human Rights, Peacebuilding, Religious Freedom, and Multifaith Relations across Africa. We therefore receive with great concern the ongoing global uproar regarding the largest black nation on earth, Nigeria. To us in Africa and the Baptist family, the peace, stability, and prosperity of Nigeria is a blessing to the entire continent. We therefore appeal to all the parties concerned to embrace peace for the good of all.

The alleged violations of religious freedom and human rights in Nigeria call for great concern, and as Baptists on the continent of Africa, we are deeply saddened and call on all the stakeholders to chart the paths that put a stop to the menace of religious crisis. The Nigerian government has the responsibility of securing the lives and properties of people of all faiths, including Christians. We serve a relational God, and historically, Africans are known to be relational. We therefore need ourselves. The United States and Nigeria are two sovereign and independent nations, therefore we ask that any help offered to the latter be such that is mutually agreed upon and not imposed.

While the Nigerian government gets busy working out ways to combat the scourge of terrorism, the government should continue to speak words of assurance to the teeming population; this way, you can trust that their spirit of patriotism would be sustained and the fire of religious intolerance would be put off. To our Christian brothers and sisters in Nigeria, most especially those who are directly troubled and live in unabated fear due to horrible cases of mass burials, loss of family members, displacements, malnutrition, disabilities, etc., we stand with you in prayer, and also exploring possible solutions to resolve the issue. Keep faith, the Lord is with you.

To the perpetrators of this injustice, please, lay down your weapons and embrace peace.

Nigeria needs true peace. Africa needs stability. We are calling upon the name of Jesus Christ the giver of peace (John 14:27).

Africa shall be a testimony of where peace reigns. All the elements of destruction shall be destroyed and the name of the Lord be forever glorified.

Embrace peace, for the good of all.

Shalom,

All Africa Baptist Fellowship (AABF)
