Sunday David Oladipupo from Nigeria wins the second edition of AABCM Young Preachers’ Contest

The second edition of the Young Preachers’ Contest, organized by the children's ministry arm of the All Africa Baptist Fellowship, has come and gone, with Sunday David Oladipupo from Nigeria emerging as the continental champion.

The contest started nearly one year ago with 32 contestants who applied from different countries. The jury members were carefully selected to reflect Africa, and they did thorough work from the first round to the final phase.

The competition was conducted online through video submissions under a very strict code of conduct. The participants were required to showcase the name of their churches in every submission. They also preached in church settings, while most of the productions were produced by the media department of the churches. We deeply appreciate the strong commitment of our Baptist pastors in preparing the children for the contest.

The AABF team visited Union Baptist Church, Agege, Lagos, Nigeria, on Sunday, 18th January, 2026 to present the prizes to the winner of the contest. The Director of the All Africa Baptist Children Ministry (AABCM), Mrs. Denise Apetogbo, urged parents across the continent to keep supporting their children.  In her words, ‘’Children, engage, get involve. Parents, don’t look down on the children’’.   The Director of Children Education, Nigerian Baptist Convention, who also serves as the Children Ministry leader for West Africa, Rev. Dr. Foluke Ola also encouraged the Children to try, in her word ‘’Children, when there is something, like sermon, quiz, put in, try, there is no sin in trying’’.   Also on the team are Pastor Stephen Fadare, Sister Diana Zogblah and Brother Agogo Iyiola David from the AABF Office.

Prizes won by the first placed contestant include five hundred US dollars, a trophy, a continental plaque, certificate of participation, a customized T-shirt, etc.
